GLASS: art design architecture
GLASS: art design architecture represents a cross-section of current creative practices and relationships to one of the world’s oldest and most versatile materials.
There’s guaranteed to be at least one in your office – possibly even on your desk – and since it’s launch in 2009 the Australian-made KeepCup has set a new standard for stylish sustainable design.
KeepCup’s newest innovation KeepCup Brew, a recyclable tempered glass cup, is one of the pieces on show in a ground-breaking new exhibition showcasing renowned contemporary Australian artists, designers, and architects opening at Queensland University of Technology (QUT) Art Museum.
Exhibitors represent a broad range of innovative approaches to working with glass – from fine, hand-crafted jewellery to high-tech glass skyscrapers. They include multiple award-winning architectural firm Woods Bagot, contemporary artist Nic Folland and Tom Moore, one of Australia’s most celebrated glass artists.
Exploring themes of sustainability, recycling and repurposing, and a love of nature, juxtaposed with seemingly disparate themes of construction, business, and the built environment, GLASS: art design architecture presents an overview of the many ways in which we engage with glass in our daily lives.
