Gelareh Pour and Garden Quartet
BEMAC is thrilled to be presenting Garden Quartet live in Brisbane. The Melbourne-based group embark on a national tour of Australia to launch their debut album “ in July and will be performing live at the Queensland Multicultural Centre (QMC) on July 20.
Garden Quartet was formed in 2016 and blends contemporary Persian and Western motifs, creating Iranian-Australian world music in a way not heard before. Delicate, emotive pieces, entwined with subtle pop sensibilities, soar into vibrant, triumphant movements.
Taking inspiration from Iran, Australia and beyond, Garden Quartet creates contemporary music that is steeped in history and dares to explore the dualities of multiculturalism.
Delicate Iranian poetry entwines as the Quartet delves into themes of place, home, love, loss and hope in original and cherished works. Led by kamancheh player and vocal virtuoso Gelareh Pour, Garden Quartet’s diverse influences carry wisdom and emotion into music that tugs at your heart.
Garden Quartet will be supported by Saba Ensemble.
