Geek Girls

Geek Girls

Geek Girls’ celebrates the female geek within contemporary art. While at one time a ‘geek’ was seen to be socially awkward and physically weak, our increasingly technological and digital landscape has created an environment in which the geek has increased influence and cultural capital, but is still enduringly male.
Featuring new media art, light installation, machinima, wearable technology, apps and physical computing, ‘Geek Girls’ presents a range of dynamic and progressive work by women working at the intersection of art, technology and feminism, challenging the gendered stereotypes of technology and computing practice.
Geek Girls is exhibiting from Tuesday April 19 – Friday May 13. Entry is free.
