French History Friday – Session 3

French History Friday – Session 3

Alliance Francaise has launched a series of 3 friendly talks on French history, led by Romain Fathi. These informal talks (presented in English) are 45 minutes long and will introduce perspectives on France during the World Wars. Attendees are encouraged to mingle with each other and the teacher, over a glass of fine French red or white wine. Get the troops together for the final talk in the series – Understanding France in the Second World War. Join in and reflect on France’s experience of the Second World War, an aspect of French history generally misunderstood  in Australian popular culture. This conference aims to pause and reflect on the origins and consequences of the French defeat. The pacifism of the 1920s, the rise of anti-Semitism, the debacle, Vichy, the occupation and the liberation will be presented through a survey of contemporary French mentalities. Providing context to understand this traumatic period in France;s history, this final French History Friday talk will be followed by a Q&A. Tickets available soon. Stay updated via the Alliance Francaise Facebook page.
