Fiona Craig

As the weather cools down and the colours of nature start to transform around the city, REDSEA Gallery is delighted to be exhibiting Australian artist, Fiona Craig, as she exhibits her celebrated floral paintings.

Having grown up in the Blue Mountains, Fiona has constantly drawn inspiration from the landscape and flora that surrounds her. Like many born and raised Australians, Fiona is influenced by Australia’s history, drawing inspiration from natural emblem flowers such as the Waratah. The dramatic composition of these paintings reflects Fiona’s highly skilled techniques, which have been rendered timeless in their attention to colour.

The vibrancy and detail in her work also guides the more exotic flowers such as orchids and tulips. Her enchanting flowers are a fusion of classic still life while capturing the ambience of Australia’s various plant life. Like any artist, Fiona paints the mood of the environment.

In 2013, Fiona was a finalist in Australia’s richest Landscape Award; The Fleurieu Art Prize. A multiple award winner in the Australian landscape community, Fiona Craig stands as a unique figure in Australian art, as her mixture of self-taught and academic disciplines create distinctive scenes of our much loved Australian environment.

Fiona has appeared several times with other youth artists in the ABC program, On the Inside, and her artworks were often discussed on the ABC radio programs, The Argonauts, and Young World.
