On Saturday 5th August Brisbane’s first female Lord Mayor, Sallyanne Atkinson AO, will be the special guest at the Genealogical Society of Queensland’s inaugural Family History Fair. This is a must-attend event for budding and experienced family historians alike and forms a part of Australia’s Family History Month offering visitors access to GSQ’s vast resources – all for free.

Highlights of the fair include:
The opportunity to meet Sallyanne Atkinson AO and learn more about her family history (at 11am)
Experienced researchers to help you start, or progress, your family tree
Several specialist presentations covering an enormous range of genealogical topics
A range of stalls from the State Library of Queensland to the DNA Special Interest Group who all have experts on-hand to offer assistance
A ‘Collectables Corner’ featuring second-hand books, vintage napery, vinyl records, stamp collections, fine-china and figurines from Coalport, Royal Albert, Lladro, Goebel and Hummel – and much more

Presentation to the winner of the Joan Reese Memorial Short Story Competition
