Explosions In The Sky – Open Season
Following its critically acclaimed new album End and sold-out international tours last year, Explosions in the Sky will return to Brisbane in May as part of Open Season.
Long renowned for their cathartic and euphoric live shows, the dates mark the band’s first Australian appearance since their 2017 run, which saw them perform two sold-out headline shows at Sydney Opera House.
Their latest full-length release End is arguably the grandest Explosions In The Sky album to date – melding the quiet restraint and crushing weight of their early recordings with the aural exploration and ornate experimentation of their later works all the while incorporating skills and insights gleaned from their increasingly deep film and television scoring experiences. While End was inspired by darkness, it became a loud, dramatic, wild rumination on life and death.
This event is presented as part of Open Season – a curated program of music and art running from May to July 2024. Open Season has been supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland’s QASP program, the Strategic Partnerships Fund, and through Live Music Australia – an Australian Government initiative.
