Drawn to food for its accessibility and all encompassing role within life, Willing explores its personal, public, and political discourses. Both embracing and removing its primary function, her work constructs a new dialogue around food culture. Her forthcoming exhibition Between Courses will explore the tools and objects commonly associated with food and dining. As she deconstructs and reassembles these objects Willing finds a new logic and purpose for these implements. Both Between Courses and the associated artwork experience Dessert III present work created throughout an 18 month research and making period in Berlin and Helsinki. The exhibition will run from Saturday November 14 to Saturday December 5.
