Formed in early 2018, Elder is an jangly indie rock band hailing from north Brisbane, consisting of Matt Burton – Vocals and Guitar, Thomas White – bass and Talia Bond – drums. Being described as a mix of 80s new wave in a modern haunted house, their dreamy and soulful sound has continued to make waves within the Brisbane music scene with their debut EP Cyril being released December 21, 2018.
—————————————————
Requin found their name in the malfunctioning television of a local fish and chip shop. The screen was caught uncontrollably switching between Australian TV quiz ‘Deal or no Deal’ and a French news channel reporting a shark attack (un attaque de requin). In an odd way, the same tension and release between different worlds can be seen in Requin’s creation of intricate, art-focused pop music. Listen to their debut EP ‘The Noisy Miners Swoop Him’.

Leavings is a three piece punk band from Brisbane, Australia. Combining driving, aggressive bass and drums, shouted vocals, and wiry guitar with catchy, muscular hooks and cavernous noise and drone-scapes, the group’s songs generate a bold, vigorous energy that is both affirming and cathartic.

Assemblage is the debut LP of Leavings, a three-piece from Brisbane, Australia, which plays angular, abrasive yet beautiful guitar/bass/drum driven punk. With hooks and riffs interjected with catchy, melodic vocals, the record sounds like Brisbane and yet draws influences from far away in space and time. Taking cues from the 80’s DC scene, British post-punk and Australian indie while keeping a familiar but fresh feel, Assemblage is an amazingly mature piece of work from three young guys making great, abstract pop.
