Ekka – Royal Queensland Show

The Royal Queensland Show, or Ekka as it’s most commonly known, is Queensland’s largest annual event. Held over nine days, the Ekka showcases the quintessential Queensland life, bringing visitors from all across the state and Australia to the heart of Brisbane. The Ekka began in 1876 and is now Queensland’s most celebrated event. This year marks the 144th show and brings with it a variety of talent, culture, produce, fun and entertainment.

This year’s Ekka offers up almost 400 show bags in the Showbag Pavilion, a huge range of amusements and attractions down Sideshow Alley, and a variety of daily entertainment and performances across the Brisbane Showgrounds. Set to stick around following its 2022 return, the much-loved nighttime entertainment program, EkkaNITES, will run every night of the show, with this year’s theme being – Imagine! The program will include Queensland Harness Racing, V8 utes making tracks around the arena, a freestyle motocross display with two-wheelers flying 15 meters high into the air, the iconic fireworks display, and much, much more.

Whether you’re going for the art, fashion, food, animals, performances, or amusements, you’ll get to experience Queensland’s best on show over two full weekends.
