Digital First Publishers and Agents

The increasing accessibility of ebooks has seen a rise in digital first publishers. But what does this mean for you? Does it increase the distribution of your story? Is there a possibility for being published in print later on? And how do you sell something you can’t hold? Join three industry professionals as they discuss the benefits and pitfalls of digital first publishing.

Alex Adsett is a publishing consultant and literary agent who offers commercial contract advice to authors and publishers. As a literary agent, she represents exciting new works of genre fiction (SF/F, crime, romance). She serves on various boards around Australia, talks regularly on copyright and contracts, and can often be found on twitter or via her website.

Kate Cuthbert is Managing Editor of Escape Publishing, Harlequin Australia’s digital-first line. She is also an award-winning book reviewer, critic, speaker, and presenter, writing and presenting romance-focused reviews and features for national and international audiences.

Joel Naoum is a Sydney-based editor, blogger, writer and book publisher at Pan Macmillan’s digital-only imprint Momentum. He researched digital publishing experimentation for an Unwin Fellowship.
