Diary of a Teenage Girl
Director: Marielle Heller
Rated: R
Duration: 102 mins
1970s San Francisco. Fifteen-year-old cartoonist Minnie is spurred by her sexual awakening to become involved with her mother’s boyfriend. Lush, funny, and sometimes so close-to-the bone, the film plays out issues around adolescence, family and female sexuality without judgement. Too few people saw this film in 2015 so we’re excited for you all to see it now.
Hot Chicks with Big Brains would like to acknowledge and thank Brisbane Pride Festival for the funding support our Screen Queens initiative received under the Kal Collins Memorial Fund. We are now working with Open Doors to engage young LGBTQIA+ people in these screenings.
