Exhibition Opening – Deirdre Bean Natural Perspectives

Exhibition Opening – Deirdre Bean Natural Perspectives

The intricacies of nature are the focus for internationally awarded natural history artist Deirdre Bean in her first solo exhibition at Mitchell Fine Art. Recognised for her intricate botanical illustrations, watercolourist Deirdre Bean takes attention to detail to another level. Fine, scientifically accurate drawings taken from life have been painstakingly developed over many months.

Drawn to the intricacies of nature, Bean has delved into the minute details of our natural world, revealing intricate details that the eye sometimes misses.

In her works, Bean has combined the natural world with human manufactured elements creating what she refers to as ‘uncommon portraits’. Constructing different meaning by adding utensils from everyday life to a classic botanical illustration; an antique spoon sits beside specimens of intricate flowers, an orange persimmon sit in contrast to a fine blue china cup.

Natural Perspective opens Friday August 23 at 6:00 pm with Deirdre Bean in attendance. Deirdre Bean will also present an Artist Talk on Saturday August 24 from 2:00 pm. This is a wonderful opportunity for art lovers to learn more about Deirdre Bean’s practice as she discusses her inspiration and techniques. The exhibition is showing from August 21 to September 14 2019. All events are free.

Mitchell Fine Art is located at 86 Arthur Street in Fortitude Valley.
