Cut It

Cut It

Arriving at GOMA on Friday August 7, 2020 and sticking around until Sunday August 29, 2021, Cut It contemplates our endless consumption of images, to show how artists have redeployed the meaning of images through the enduring techniques of collage, montage and sampling. Using the lenses of news reporting and entertainment media, the artworks are cropped and altered pictures from newspapers, popular movies, the internet and art history, bringing together disparate images to express new ideas.

Collage is often used as a political gesture to question the values advocated by the images’ original sources and contexts. Cut It will also explore the ongoing influence of art history on modern day visual culture.

So you don’t miss out on experiencing all this cultural goodness and more, QAGOMA is operating a free time-entry ticket system. QAG is currently open to a limited number of visitors from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm daily and GOMA will open to a limited number of visitors from Friday August 7. To book your free timed ticket to QAGOMA, head here – we suggest booking in advance so you don’t miss out!
