Creative Fusions
An inspiring music workshop program fusing diverse musical and cultural styles.
Creative Fusions is an inspiring three day music-making program for participants aged 10 to 100 years that fuses diverse musical and cultural styles. Creative Fusions is for musicians of all levels of experience to share a passion for music, develop new skills, and perform alongside professional role models.
Led by Dr Anthony Garcia and organisation Sounds Across Oceans, and featuring a team of experienced Queensland teaching artists, Creative Fusions is an intercultural workshop process that is designed to foster an ethos of self-expression and experimentation. No matter what your instrument β from Chinese zither or African Djembe, to jazz guitar, classical violin, or didgeridoo β you will be able to immerse yourself in three days of music-making heaven where you will learn how to jam in groups, create new sounds and songs, and learn about other cultures and styles.
Creative Fusions provides a safe, supervised environment for young musicians to create together, while also inviting older community musicians to also be part of the music-making process. Come on your own or come with a relative or friend. Itβs intercultural and intergenerational!
The program will culminate in a performance on the Friday night, showcasing original compositions and fresh arrangements developed throughout the learning journey, and giving participants the opportunity to perform for family and friends.
