COLOUR: See the world in a new light

COLOUR: SEE THE WORLD IN A NEW LIGHT though this exhibition developed by Questacon, the National Science and Technology Centre, presented at the Ipswich Art Gallery.

Is your yellow the same as mine? How do pixels and paint differ? Have you ever wanted to see UV light like an insect?

Engage with more than 25 interactive experiences, ranging from coloured bubbles to iridescent insects to colour illusions. Explore how light influences colour, and compare your perception of colour with your family and friends. ‘See like a bee’ with the ultraviolet camera; take a high-resolution image of your eye; and see glowing quantum nanomaterials that change their colour with crystal size. The exhibition will show the power colour has on the choices we make every day, and on our responses to our environment.

For younger visitors, a Kids’ Trail is included. Artworks of Australian plants and animals are placed throughout the exhibition—but the colours seem to be missing. Children and adults alike are challenged to ‘find’ the colour in the pictures by using the included polarising glasses, watching the colourless images come to life.
