Cine Latino Film Festival

Cine Latino Film Festival, Australia’s largest festival of Latin American cinema, returns to Palace Cinemas nationally this November. This year’s Festival features films from across the region, including Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico and Paraguay. The program includes a strong line-up of critically acclaimed films, many of which have been submitted to represent their country at the upcoming Oscars® such as Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma (Mexico), Marcelo Martinessi’s The Heiresses (Paraguay), Cristina Gallego and Ciro Guerra’s Birds Of Passage (Colombia), and Luis Ortega’s El Ángel (Argentina).

The program is selected by a committee that includes Paulette Arvizu, Gina Rubiano and Laura Emerick (hailing from Mexico, Colombia and Panama respectively) who are particularly excited to share stories of their regions with Australian audiences.

This year’s selection also caters to all tastes and features highly anticipated thrillers (Animal) and smash hit comedies from the region (How To Break Up With Your Douchebag) as well as a Cuban retrospective for patrons to enjoy some classics from Havana on the big screen. And returning from last year’s program, the line-up features a CINE ARGENTINA section, with eight of the most recent box office Argentinean hits.
