Cast By The Sun is a join exhibition between academics and higher degree research students from Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art and Temple University’s Tyler Art School in Philadelphia. It is the first exhibition of QCA’s reopened POP Gallery in Woolloongabba and will showcase the work of 32 photographers including Marian Drew, Angela Blakely, Renata Buziak, Jay Younger, Amy Carkeek and Shehab Uddin. The premise of this exhibition is to investigate the role of place in artistic practice. More specifically, is there an assumption that place in art is somehow more evident in photographic form? This exhibition posits that the artists’ experience of place has created a distinctiveness in each practice.
