Camerata – Unearthing Gems

Camerata – Unearthing Gems

Eight Camerata Artistic Associates unearth a splendid selection of known and little-known music. In this intimate concert you will be close enough to the musicians to see how they draw the sound from their instruments, to witness their passion and to catch fleeting wry smiles as they interact. Rossini’s String Sonata, so full of character, charm and witty musical repartee, is like an imaginary mini opera in itself, while Edwards’s Veni Creator Spiritus from 1993 begins with a gentle chant, as if written thousands of years ago. The Octet by Romanian composer Enescu, written at the age of 19, is brimming with youthful zest and ambition, with its virtuosity palpable and its symphonic scope breath-taking. What better place to hear and see Camerata at close range than in the surrounds of the recently refurbished Cremorne Theatre, QPAC.
