Camerata – Compassion
On Thursday April 2, experience the wonder that is Queensland’s Chamber Orchestra’s adventurous (and extremely talented) ensemble of musicians, Camerata. The conducter-free ensemble of string players kicks off its 2020 season with Compassion – a range of beautiful songs performed by Australian singer/songwriter Lior and co‑written by Australian composer, Nigel Westlake. In this evening of inspiring musical brilliance, both the string ensemble and Lior’s graceful vocal gift will shine.
The program opens with an awe-inspiring rendition of Beethoven’s Grand Fugue, showcasing the beautiful work of one of the world’s greatest composers. Phillip Glass’s Echorus commemorates the instrumental talent of acclaimed violinist, Yehudi Menuhin, with a text by Alan Ginsberg read by celebrated Aussie actor, Barbara Lowing. Audiences will then be transported to Madrid, where their ears will be treated to a sensual strings performance of The Bullfighter’s Prayer. Lior will then serenade audiences with his show-stopping talent in Compassion – a series of songs with words that aim to unite Islam and Judaism into a remarkable and authentic celebration of compassion.
In signature Camerata fashion, audiences will be treated to a mystery wild card segment will be revealed on the night.
Set to dazzle and delight, this passionate performance is not to be missed. Be quick and grab your tickets at QPAC’s website.
