Botanical marbling

Botanical marbling

Marbling on paper to create botanical artworks has long been mysterious and complex process, having its origins in 9th century China, moving through Persia and Turkey, before making its way to the book binderies of Europe, where it was used for the endpapers and covers of bound books. Many of the pigments and sizes used by this art are plant based. Using seasonal flowers and plants from the Botanic Gardens as your inspiration, this workshop will guide you through the basics of the beautiful art of Turkish (or Ebru) marbling. All materials provided.

Meet at the Auditorium.
