We could probably all do with some good news right about now so here it is music lovers – BIGSOUND 2020 is happening! Widely recognised as Australia’s premier music industry conference and artist showcase, BIGSOUND is where the world discovers Australian music. As you might expect, this year’s festival will look a little different from previous years but still promises to entertain, inform and inspire with a revised program of conference, live music and parties across two jam-packed days from Wednesday October 21 to Thursday October 22. This year’s event will address the needs of First Nations artists and music-industry workers as part of the national recovery process and offer industry a place to reconnect and look towards a new era of productivity and growth post-COVID. This will be the first major meeting of industry since the global pandemic reigned chaos across the globe so you can be guarantee it’s going to get a little wild.
The specific line-up is being kept under wraps for now however punters can expect a stellar selection of tomorrow’s hottest musical talent across 10 live-music venues in the festival’s spiritual home of Fortitude Valley. Supporting the showcases will be a condensed program of cutting-edge conferences, workshops, facilitated conversations and official parties.
Artist live showcase applications are now open. Due to the event being condensed in size and capacity, there will be no artist application fees this year. Social distancing and safety protocols will also be in place across the entire event so expect capacity limits to be strictly enforced.
