After five years at the helm (plus the extra 7 as The Troubadour), Corinna Scanlon and Jerry Virag are proud to announce that they have decided to hand over the reins of Black Bear Lodge. The venue has been sold to Jesse Barbera and Miro Mackie, part of the new generation of Brisbane bar owners and music enthusiasts.

To celebrate this transition, Black Bear Lodge are throwing their 5th Birthday Party to say goodbye to Cori and Jerry and celebrate some of their favourite artists.

Halfway have released one of the albums of the year. We love them and we’re pretty sure they love us. Come see why this band is considered one of the finest acts in the country right now.

Texas Kate is one half of Brisbane’s most loved duo, Texas Tea. Kate used to book BBL so she’s coming back from Sweden to play one very special set for us.

McKisko is gorgeous and has been part of the fabric of this room for a long time. We couldn’t imagine a farewell to our beloved Cori and Jerry without her.

And the same goes for handsome troubadour Tom Cooney. An essential part of what Black Bear is today and he’ll be here to play a few tunes along with Cori jumping up onstage to sing with him!

We’ll also have a very special, secret. surprise guest to open the night but you’ll have to come along to find out who that is.
