Australian String Quartet in Concert

Australian String Quartet In Concert

The Australian String Quartet (ASQ) brings a cathedral of sound to Brisbane as they journey through masterworks from Beethoven and Britten, as well as a World Premiere from Australian composer David Paterson.

Opening this concert with a flourish of colour is Britten’s Three Divertimenti for String Quartet. This reflective and, at times, brooding piece is a sharp, brilliant set of three short character pieces that showcase the ASQ’s extraordinary breadth of musical tone and texture.

Then bask in the new ASQ-commissioned work by Australian composer David Paterson.

The night culminates in a display of technical mastery with Beethoven’s iconic third and final Razumovsky quartet. Considered by many as one of Beethoven’s most radiant compositions, its bustling and triumphant final movement is what has earned it the nickname Eroica (Heroic).
