Australia Day Thong Challenge

Australia’s favourite thong is calling out for Queenslanders to head to Mooloolaba Beach on Australia Day to help break the world record for the longest line of giant inflatable Havaianas in open water and take out the 2015 Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge.

Each year the states battle it out to see who will come out on top, and this year is Queensland’s chance to take the crown as record holder. The stakes are particularly high in 2015, with the iconic challenge entering its 10th year. Mooloolaba will compete to beat the reigning champion, Cottesloe Beach, WA, where in 2014 a record 2,099 people connected in water on giant inflatable Havaianas. Cottesloe is a tough competitor, having won for the past three consecutive years.

While the challenge is the day’s main event, there will be a host of fantastic activities the whole family can enjoy including celebrity appearances, DJs, a Zinc Zone, and plenty of beach games with prizes to be won including Tug-O-War, Thong Toss and Thong Grab.

Online registration is $30, which includes a $10 donation to Mooloolaba SLSC’s Nippers program as well as a giant Havaianas inflatable (valued at $49.95). Everyone who registers for the 2015 Havaianas Australia Day Thong Challenge will receive a Havaianas ShareBand, enabling them to instantly share photos and updates on their Facebook pages throughout the day.

As there will be a limited number of registrations available on the day, pre-registration is recommended to avoid disappointment. Online registration is now open via the Havianas Thong Challenge website.
