Anzac Commemoration

Anzac Commemoration

Combining remembrance and reflection, Brisbane City Council has created a program to commemorate the brave Anzacs and their legacy. Special events have been carefully selected to pay tribute and respect to the soldiers who sacrificed so much for our country.

The commemoration will include a unique concert to remember and honour the Anzac spirit, with performances by solo artists, choirs and a Brisbane Regional Youth Orchestra. There will also be light displays happening in the Toowong Cemetery.

The commemoration will culminate with a special evening screening of the moving 1981 film Gallipoli, a classic Australian cinematic journey about two young soldiers who are faced with the brutal realities of war when sent to fight in Turkey during World War I.

These events and displays are all free to observe and attend. For more information on these events, call the team at Council on 07 3403 8888 or email the Cemeteries team.

Event times:
In Remembrance concert: Sunday April 23 from 5:00–6:00pm
Gallipoli screening: Saturday April 29 at 7:30 pm
