Jonathan Crowther’s exhibition Anything But Ordinary is a collection of new paintings that continue the artist’s exploration into the still-life genre and its historical and contemporary theoretical underpinnings. Depicting subject matter from a sculpture made of popcorn to a crushed plastic cup, Jonathan’s massive paintings transform everyday objects into objects with overt significance and meaning. This is the Australia Arts Council Artstart Grant recipient’s first exhibition in his home state since completing a Masters of Contemporary of Art at the Victorian College of the Arts with First Class Honours. Anything But Ordinary will be on display at Lethbridge Gallery from Saturday July 4 to Thursday July 16, with opening drinks from 3:00–5:00 pm on Saturday July 4.
