Alliance Française Classic Film Festival

Alliance Française Classic Film Festival

After the success of last year’s inaugural event in Sydney, the Alliance Française Classic Film Festival is coming to Brisbane to celebrate iconic screen sirens and all things Euro.

Held across Australia in collaboration with STUDIOCANAL and in association with Palace Cinemas, the festival is being held as a complement to the renowned Alliance Française French Film Festival. The line-up highlights the cinematic splendour and talent of Brigitte Bardot, Catherine Deneuve, Jean Seberg, Romy Schneider and Simone Signoret – all coming together under the theme of Les Blondes.

The festival will feature renowned titles from STUDIOCANAL’s archive vault in Paris. Each film will screen once over the weekend at Palace Barracks – a window to go back in time and be transported by these classics. The showcase includes screenings of Breathless, Lovers Like Us, Casque D’or, Cesar and Rosalie and Viva Maria. The films embody the essence of these iconic Les Blondes in true French style. There’s also a special opening night screening of Le Sauvage to set the mood just right.

Considered great actresses of their eras, these Les Blondes are recognised and renowned around the world. Catherine Deneuve was selected by the European Film Academy to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award, Simone Signoret was the recipient of multiple Oscars, Romy Schneider was the inaugural winner of the Best Actress César in 1976, Jean Seberg immortalised La Nouvelle Vague in cinema and style, and Brigitte’s status as a global icon of beauty continues to be celebrated by a number of art and fashion institutions.

The Alliance Française Classic Film Festival is the perfect opportunity to add a dose of Euro luxe to your weekend – tres chic!
