AFC Asian Cup

AFC Asian Cup

From 9 to 31 January 2015, Australia will host the Asian Football Confederation’s premier tournament, the Asian Cup. Matches will be played in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Newcastle and Canberra.

It will be contested by Australia and the fifteen strongest football nations in the Asian Confederation, with the winner qualifying as AFC’s representative at the FIFA Confederations Cup, held in the year preceding the World Cup.

It is anticipated that the 2015 tournament in Australia will be the most watched AFC Asian Cup in history, with a potential television reach of more than 2.5 billion people across 80 countries. It is estimated that this event will attract around 500,000 spectators and up to 45,000 international guests.

Brisbane matches will be taking place at Brisbane Stadium, in Milton, which is Queensland’s premier purpose-built football venue with a capacity of 52,500 patrons. It is rated by visiting players and officials alike as one of the best in the world. Head to the Brisbane Stadium website for a full listing of match fixtures.
