Often artists are encouraged to seek perfection and clarity in their work through the use of realism. The opposite was asked for Aspire Gallery’s 2018 Abstract Exhibition, where artists sought to create the same desired result in their work but through the use of colours, shapes and textures instead.
From sculptural work inspired from a Picasso painting, to acrylic work exploring the subconscious mind – the creativity and experimentation of the artists exhibiting this month is truly fabulous. Attendees may find themselves getting lost in works as they trying to decipher shapes or be caught by the vivid colours that line Aspire’s wall. Yet the beauty with abstract work, specifically each and every work on show in this exhibition, is the range of interpretations, emotions and ideas one work may evoke. So step into Aspire Gallery during the start of June to explore the nontraditional, and what it may mean for you.
Aspire Gallery’s Abstract Exhibition is on show from June 6–16 , Wednesday to Saturday (10:30 am to 4:30 pm).
All are encouraged to attend the Official Opening on Saturday June 9 from 4:30–6:30 pm.
