A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum
The Tony Award-winning musical, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum – from a book written by Burt Shevelove and Larry Gelbart – was Stephen Sondheim’s first Broadway show.
Inspired by traditional farce theatre from ancient Rome, it tells the hilarious story of a slave named Pseudolus and his attempts to win his freedom by helping his master win the attentions of a ‘girl next door’. In this hilarious slapstick comedy; puns, mistaken identities and lashings of innuendo accelerate the pace leaving audiences breathless, sometimes with laughter and sometimes simply catching up on the vaudevillian action!
