50 Years and Counting

50 Years and Counting

The 1967 Referendum changed the Australian constitution, with a record breaking ‘yes’ vote to count Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in the census for the first time. On the 50th anniversary of the Referendum, come to State Library of Queensland to reflect on its historic and contemporary significance at 50 Years and Counting. Enjoy inspired talks including a keynote address by Dr Chelsea Bond, hear TENT talks in Richard Bell’s Tent Embassy, and engage in lively conversation.

Plus, reflect on Queenslanders’ evolving freedoms throughout history through the onsite exhibitions Freedom Then, Freedom Now and Don’t Just Count Us, Let Us Count!

Visit the State Library website for full event details and program.
