Experience music, magic and community spirit at the Woodford Folk Festival

What are you doing New Year’s Eve? If the answer isn’t Woodford Folk Festival, you may be in for some serious FOMO – from amazing international live music to watching the sunrise with more than 25,000 peaceful punters, it’s a sensory experience many find near impossible to describe. The iconic event once again takes up residence at its physical and spiritual home of Woodfordia from Tuesday December 27 until New Year’s Day, heralding the arrival of 2017 in its own inimitable style.

The Woodford Folk Festival is known for packing its programs with a host of international and local talent, with this year’s musical offering seeing Amanda PalmerPaul Kelly and Kev Carmody topping the bill. The musical component features a great mix of pop, rock, blues and roots artists, including Gang of YouthsTash SultanaBlue King BrownAdalita and Urthboy just to name a few. Woodford is also the sort of place where you leave with five new favourite bands, with a total of 35 performance venues showcasing live talent around the clock.

The concert component isn’t the only thing that keeps people coming back for more – at Woodford you will find a range of activities to the tune of dancing spectaculars, street theatre, writers’ panels, comedy sessions, acoustic jams and heaps more. The festival has a huge rep for being clean, green and sustainably run, so it’s no surprise that there is an entire environmental program with talks, debates and films to help inspire and educate the masses. When you add art and craft workshops, circus performances and workshops, late night cabarets and one heck of a fire event, it makes sense to stay for more than just a day.

If you’ve found yourself craving some New Year’s cheer, you can check out the ticket and camping packages still available over at the Woodford Folk Festival website.
