Get amongst the cinematic community at West End Film Festival

Of all of Brisbane’s suburbs, West End is perhaps one of the most dedicated hubs of creativity. The artistic community of the riverside neighbourhood continues to thrive, forming exciting new cultural events with the turn of each year. One of West End’s most successful forays into the creative avenue of film may be the West End Film Festival, which returns to the district this weekend.

On Sunday April 21, the community event will once again stride into the precinct and form a home in drinking den, Rumpus Room. Sitting just off Boundary Street, the space will be transformed from a popular watering hole into a petite open-air cinema for the evening, which both locals and non-locals alike are invited to enjoy.

For one evening only, the West End Film Festival will screen a handful of short films. Two separate screenings will take place on the night, with one beginning at 6:00 pm and the other at 8:00 pm. The film program for 2013 includes a line-up of highly anticipated films from a variety of genres – should you attend,  you’ll be able to enjoy flicks such as Photo Booth (a TropFest finalist from local filmmaker Michael Noonan) and Jack and Jones, a quirky clay animation from indigenous filmmaker, Jason Japaljarri Woods.

Tickets to West End Film Festival tend to sell out, so if you wish to avoid disappointment you can buy yours online – they are available for $18 per session or $35 for an all-evening pass.
