Venus in Fur at QPAC

Venus in Fur brings mind games to QPAC

From Broadway to Brisbane, Venus in Fur is an intense tale exploring the dynamics of sexual power between a master and slave.

Venus in Fur follows playwright Thomas as he adapts Venus In Furs, the scandalous 1870 novel by Austrian author Leopold von Sacher-Masoch. His play requires a confident dominatrix, who proves difficult to find. When the playwright meets Vanda and offers her an audition, the balance of power becomes an interesting study in sexual power play.

Nominated for a Tony Award in 2012, the play has been turned into a film by Roman Polanski, which premiered recently at the Cannes International Film Festval. The themes of obsession, submission and emotional entanglement make Venus in Fur a gripping production for audiences. The show will run from June 22 to July 27 at QPAC.
