Valley Fiesta comes of age by throwing a street party with all the trimmings

Turning 21 is a pretty big deal – it’s the kind of occasion where you throw a massive rager, invite all of your friends and try to extend the good times for as long as possible, right? It’s definitely a milestone worthy of a two-day party featuring killer bands, loads of live entertainment and drool-worthy food, which is exactly what iconic street festival Valley Fiesta is doing to celebrate its upcoming birthday. Taking over the Brunswick Street and Chinatown malls as well as a host of adjoining venues on the October 27–28 weekend, this is one party you’ll want to invite yourself to.

Since way back in the golden age of the 90s when it all began, Valley Fiesta has gained a solid reputation as being one of Brisbane’s biggest and best street parties. The free festival showcases all the best bits of Fortitude Valley, cementing its status as a true entertainment capital. For this birthday bash, Valley Fiesta is truly going all out with the guest list – none other than Fatman Scoop himself has been billed as a headliner. The legendary MC will be joined by local heroes The Jungle Giants as co-headliners, as well as a huge host of artists such as The Creases, Bleeding Knees Club, Velociraptor and The Gooch Palms to name a few.

The killer line-up isn’t the only thing that draws people to Valley Fiesta – there’s also a whole separate entertainment program going on. The Multicultural Showcase in the Chinatown Mall gives punters a passport that takes them all around the world, celebrating cultural diversity by sampling bits and pieces of countries across the globe. For even more live music over the weekend, be sure to check out the QMA Showcase in Brunswick Street Mall on the Saturday. Local lads Morning Harvey are topping the bill, with a host of exciting up-and-comers joining the afternoon show. No doubt all of this partying is bound to work up an appetite, so it’s a good thing The Valley is teeming with top places to grab a drink and fill your belly. You can check out some of the venues here.

Valley Fiesta is totally free, so no need to purchase tickets! You can jump online and check out the full timetable of events over here.
