Go large for the 20th anniversary of Valley Fiesta

Imagine someone packing a cannon with the sweetest beats, the most delicious food, some eye-popping art and baller retail outlets (as well as glitter and confetti for show, obviously). Now imagine them firing the contents of said cannon over the Fortitude Valley precinct and BOOM! – that’s Valley Fiesta. The annual celebration is taking place from October 28–30, marking 20 years of good times in inimitable Brisbane style.

It’s a huge year music-wise for Valley Fiesta, with Australian icons The Vines bringing their crushing live show to headline the Main Stage on Saturday night. Bringing the interstate love is Melbourne’s Harts and Morning Harvey, as well as Sydney’s Jess Kent and KLP coming up for the weekend festivities. Sunday is all about the QMA Showcase, featuring the talents of category winners and finalists from the recent Queensland Music Awards. Chinatown will be home to the Multicultural Stage, hosting performances and workshops from such corners of the globe as Africa, Brazil, Scotland, Spain, Japan and more.

Aside from the epic musical offerings, Valley Fiesta has a whole bunch of arty and retail business going down. Local legend and street art heavyweight Shida’s latest exhibit Rites of Joy is opening on the Friday night, and creative maverick Kiel Tillman is taking over Winn Lane on Saturday afternoon for a bit of live paint action. Vintage & Vinyl is the name of the game at Duncan Street, with both a fun fair and market stalls dedicated to the old school way of life taking up residence for the weekend (word has it that there’s a kissing booth, so don’t forget your Chap Stick).

Valley Fiesta is going to be jam-packed with goodness, so you can peep the full list of what’s on offer at official website to get excited.
