Love affairs, New York and hilarious antics – the curtains are raising for Queensland Theatre’s Triple X
This time last year, things were a bit strange. Our favourite venues around Brisbane were closing their doors – from restaurants and cafes to cinemas and even our beloved theatres. Thankfully, this year we are well and truly back in action and so is Queensland Theatre. One show that is finding its spotlight again after COVID drew the curtains on the production in 2020 is the much-anticipated Triple X. Set to challenge theatre goers’ perception of love, this must-see play is taking over Queensland Theatre until Thursday April 1.
After a verrrrry long wait to get to the stage, Triple X is finally here – hurrah! Billed as the first trans love story to hit the Australian main stage, this riveting play is written by and stars multi-talented stage luminary Glace Chase. The Australian-born, New York-based playwright, comedienne and performer hopes Triple X’s exploration of entitlement and the realities of love will help audiences understand the trans experience.
Set in New York, this raunchy romantic comedy follows Scotty (played by Josh McConville), a Wall Street banker who is about to marry the perfect fiancée. When Scotty meets trans performance artist Dexie (played by Glace), he discovers he wants something more and the two begin a love affair. We won’t reveal too much more, but let’s just say it’s one wild ride. To grab your ticket to Triple X, make your way to the Queensland Theatre website.
