The upcoming flip of the calendar not only brings a new month (it’s nearly February already?), but a new celebration – Lunar New Year. This auspicious occasion injects a dose of colour, vibrance and delicious eats in to Brisbane and there’s no better place to soak all of this up than Treasury Brisbane. The inner-city destination has got plenty of exciting events to help you welcome in the Year of the Tiger – from succulent banquets and lion dances to wishing trees and out-of-this-world high teas.
Calling all feasters, frolickers and fun-loving folk! Lunar New Year is about to kick off at Treasury Brisbane and the much-loved dining and entertainment hub has a whole month’s worth of festivities on the cards from February 1–28. Welcome in the new year with your pinkies up at The Lab’s luxe Tray of Togetherness High Tea, where you can indulge in sweet delicacies alongside savoury delights like baos, dumplings and pork buns, before washing it all down with a pot of Chinese tea. If that’s not enough to filly your belly, make way to Fat Noodle, where diners are invited to dig in to a toothsome five-course banquet for two featuring scallop dumplings, tamarind prawn and kohlrabi salad, half-roasted duck, xoi xeo ga, mango pudding with coconut, and a pot of jasmine tea.
More tastebud-enticing eats await at Mei Wei Dumplings, which is hosting a banquet for two featuring chicken salad, steamed pork dumplings, your choice of chicken soup or fish chowder, honey-sesame prawns, black-pepper beef with mushrooms, lup cheong fried rice, and green-tea brulee. Plus, if you enjoy a Lunar New Year banquet at either Fat Noodle or Mei Wei, you’ll be gifted a red packet with a special treat! Plenty of entertainment will be lighting up the precinct too with roving lion dancers and entertainers set to put smiles on faces. There will even be a traditional wishing tree where you can place your wishes for 2022 – ours would be to continue feasting at Treasury Brisbane forevermore.
