With the frivolity of just turning two still lingering in the air, Ashgrove’s Junk Bar is holding its regular Trash and Treasure Market this weekend.
A compendium of the pre-loved and the handmade, at these markets you can seek out vintage clothing and jewellery, art and prints, books and knick knacks. While encountering everything from the classic to the bizarre, rummage through milk crates of vinyl that have seen better days but will forever play smoothly on your Target-bought imitation record player. Whether the roadside discarded or garage sailing finds are more your cup of tea, unite to find new treasure among the trash of other young and/or hip westsiders.
With a winter array of drinks gracing the menu, try the Junk Delight – of Turkish Delight origins served in a martini glass – as you browse, or sip on this hidden lair’s infamous sangria served steamy in a pewter goblet for winter. Peckish tickles can be curbed by plates of olives, cheese, Junk-made dips and crackers or a savoury or dessert-laden bagel.
