Theatre takes to the streets for Anywhere Theatre Festival
Stripping the art of performance back to its basic elements of a stage, the performers and the audience, the theatre provides audiences with a raw and intimate cultural experience.
Taking this concept to the next level, the Anywhere Theatre Festival takes theatre out of its traditional setting to deliver richly intimate and creative performances. From alleyways to warehouses and office spaces, the festival encourages performers to inhabit the most unexpected of spaces.
As part of the festival, The Alleyway Project will transform Fortitude Valley’s Winn Lane into a stage for four creative playwrights. Taking on the personas of Fortitude Valley’s often drunken inhabitants, the actors will recreate some of the antics that take place on the footpaths of the lively suburb after dark.
The festival runs from May 10–19, and The Alleyway Project will be staged from May 14–15. Keep your eyes out – you never know when you are likely to be accosted by a rogue actor during the festival.
