The Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival returns with sizzling street-food and creative cocktails

We’ve been known to travel far and wide for a great feed, whether it be roadtrips to restaurants afar or country-hopping in search of culinary delights (back in the good ol’ days, that is). One destination worth trekking to for mouth-watering bites and fresh local produce is Maleny, a quaint town located in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Provision pilgrims in need of an excuse to clock up some kilometres are in luck as The Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival is returning to the postcard-perfect hinterland town on Sunday February 28. We think it’s high-time to let the waistband loose.

Slinging a huge selection of finger-licking chews and refreshing brews, The Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival is making its way back to the serene lush grounds of Spicers Tamarind Retreat in just a few short weeks. Festival-goers can expect a tasty line-up of treats and exotic flavours inspired by the Far East, with a massive roster of Asian street-food cooked up by The Tamarind’s highly acclaimed head chef, Daniel Jarrett – think crispy fried-chicken ribs topped with black pepper and ginger-caramel, Shanghai-style chilled noodles with Fraser Isle spanner crab and Korean burgers made with bulgogi-braised brisket. There will even be a surprise dessert available on the day in collaboration with Maleny Food Co – the perfect sweet treat to cleanse the palate.

On the sips side, there will be plenty of cocktails courtesy of Noosa’s Fortune Distillery and wines from the Barossa’s Eden Valley Brockenchack Winery. To keep winers and diners entertained there will be live music filling the fields all afternoon plus a host of workshops. You can put on the chef’s hat for a cooking demonstration hosted by The Tamarind’s talented chefs in their on-site cooking school or tickle your tastebuds at a riesling masterclass hosted by wine guru MC Peter Marchant. Whether you want to roll out a picnic blanket on the green or wander from street stall to street stall to be tempted by the food and drinks, this is the weekend food festival for you! Grab your tickets at The Sunshine Coast Asian Food Festival website.
