The Qube Effect showcases live music for Youth Week

Local musicians will perform their favourite song for a chance to win $4000 as part of this creative youth-oriented music event.

From April 4–17, Brisbane Youth Week is hosting a range of events for young people from between the age of 12 and 25. As part of the festivities, Brisbane Youth Week has called upon the city’s musical talents to compete in a unique competition for prize money. Live musicians will perform 20-minute sets and record a song of their own choice in a specially designed ‘qube’ on Saturday April 9 at QPAC and on April 17 in the Valley Mall from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm. A multi-camera set up, recording the performance in 360 degrees, will capture the live sets and hosted online for the public to enjoy before they cast their vote for The QUBE Effect People’s Choice.

In addition to the major prize of $4000, a judging panel comprised of industry professionals will award additional prizes for Best Original Song, Best New Talent, QPAC Gig on the Green Award and Council’s Clem Jones City Hall Concert Performance Prize. 2015’s The QUBE Effect Showcase featured the likes of Quintessential Doll, Maja, Go Van Go, The Golden Age of Ballooning, O’ Little Sister and more.
