The Illusionists, Brisbane

Step into a world of modern magic with The Illusionists

The allure of a good magic trick is sometimes too hard to refuse, no matter your age group. Society has long been drawn to the magic trick, long before Harry Houdini first shocked audiences by draping himself in chains. With buskers on most street corners and magic kits continuing to sell like hotcakes for the young (and young at heart), there seems no end to the power magic wields and the curiosity it stirs amongst men.

This weekend, a motley crew of some of the world’s most extravagant magicians will be arriving in town to dazzle local audiences with their modern interpretation of classic tricks. No longer is the rabbit in the hat trick favoured, but has instead been replaced by invisibility, levitation, and similarly astounding acts.

The Illusionists is a show that explores the field of magic with some of the world’s greatest magicians. Seven major illusionists will be on stage, both performing individual acts as well as team tricks (joined by a bevy of ever-important assistants). The tomfoolery, to include incredible escapes and levitations, will be matched with an elaborate stage of smoke machines, strobe lighting and pyrotechnics for a night of pure entertainment. The show will run at QPAC from January 18–27.
