Puppy portraits, playful pottery and more – The Great Artist Market is back with a treasure trove of local talent
Get your tote bags at the ready – The Great Artist Market is back for 2024. Held bi-annually in Felons Barrel Hall, the Autumn 2024 market will convert one of Brisbane’s most beloved brewery haunts into a creative hub of local artists, makers and craftsmen.
After a knockout 2023 season, The Great Artist Market is returning to take over this riverside precinct on Saturday March 16. The community project is brought to life by the team at Felons Brewing Co. – who bring their award-winning taste in beer to the world of arts and crafts. The market series continues to live up to its namesake – featuring more than 50 stalls by the best creatives of Brisbane from illustrators to jewellery makers and ceramists.
The 2024 market sees the return of fan-favourites like Bee One Third – honey sourced from the botanicals of your local neighbourhoods, Bonnie Hislop – the Brisbane-based ceramicist known for her novelty and pastel-themed trophies, Lauren Rogers – First Nations artist famed for her fusion of traditional and contemporary art styles and Eye Pictured This – the local illustrator who stuns with her adorable cartoon scenes. Beyond these headliners, you’ll also find artists like Claudio Kirac Art, Each to Own, Erin Lighfoot Studio, Mint Art House and Wulkuraka Designs.
Whilst you’re strolling and shopping the stalls, Felon’s local DJ will be curating the perfect weekend playlist for you from Felons’ vinyl collection. Kicking off at 8:00 am, you can also expect delicious bakery items and fresh coffee to start your morning as well as free face painting, balloon twisting and a collage workshop for little ones (and big ones). If you work up an appetite from the treasure trove of mindfully made trinkets, you can pair your market day with tasty treats from Felons’ beloved menu of comfort food – as well as free beer samples and live music. While dogs aren’t allowed in Barrel Hall market space, they are welcome outside in the the Rivergarden, where Bad Pet Portraiture will draw live pet portraits and is giving away the first 25 pup portraits.
The Great Artist Market is free and held in Felons Barrel Hall at Howard Smith Wharves.
