QPAC set to host the Australian premiere of The Gallipoli Symphony

Created by a group of composers from Australia, New Zealand and Turkey, The Gallipoli Symphony weaves emotion and beauty into the fabric of war.

The Gallipoli landings will forever be a crucial part in Australia’s wartime history, helping to lay the foundation for the ANZAC tradition and memorialising the lives lost on foreign soil. The story of Gallipoli has seen various incarnations, and perhaps the most strikingly beautiful adaptation comes in the form of The Gallipoli Symphony, narrating the tale in sound. Composed and arranged in a tri-nation effort, The Gallipoli Symphony will premiere in Australia on Tuesday November 24 at QPAC.

Led by world-renowned maestro Jessica Cottis, the Queensland Symphony Orchestra will perform alongside seven international specialist soloists as well as the Gallipoli Choir and Australian Voices Choir. Multiple screens will further emphasise the emotional aspect of the work by displaying archival footage and still photographs of the era. This production has been ten years in the making, so anyone with a passion for Australia’s rich history or lovers of classical music will surely find this performance moving.
