The heartwarming story follows the daring adventure of fifteen-year old Christopher Boone, played superbly by Joshua Jenkins. Christopher’s curious and interrogative mind is brilliant but troubled – never venturing beyond the end of his road, detesting being touched and distrusting strangers is just a part of the woes young Christopher faces. Our hero’s story starts in the wrong place at the wrong time, as he witnesses neighbourhood darling Mrs Shears’ dog tragically speared by a garden fork at seven minutes after midnight. Suspicions swell and the blame is swiftly attributed to Christopher. What follows is a Sherlock-style investigation, a fight against authority and a frightening journey full of self-discovery and courage.
The all-British and Irish cast of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time has had renowned success after winning more Oliviers than any other performance at the time – the West End production was soon transferred onto Broadway where it was labelled among the top ten productions of 2014. Mark’s well-loved book has sold over 5.5 million copies worldwide, and has been simultaneously popular with the direction of Marianne Elliott (War Horse, Angels in America) and award-winning playwright Simon Stephens. The charming production has captivated audiences everywhere with its sensitive yet subtle approach to a variety of topics that are portrayed in a vivid and intriguing light, staying true to Mark’s work.
