Grab your lederhosen – The Bavarian is throwing a ten-week schnitzel festival
There’s nothing more satisfying than a good ol’ chicken schnitzel, preferably dished up with a large serving of beer-battered chips, a salad that you will probably take one bite of (for health’s sake) and a cold pint. If this also sounds ideal to you, then you’ll froth what The Bavarian has been cooking up. For ten whole weeks, the string of German-inspired eateries are putting a Bavarian spin on an Aussie classic, throwing a mammoth schnitzel festival that will showcase ten different types of schnitties.
From Wednesday March 31 to Wednesday June 9, the legendary haus of hearty bites, also known as The Bavarian, is giving schnitzel fans ten weeks to indulge in a smorgasbord of ten flavour variations. Chicken fiends will be able to devour schnitzel creations inspired by lands afar – Mexican (crumbed chicken breast, corn chips, spicy beef, beans, cheddar, tomato salsa, coriander and sour cream), Hawaiian (crumbed chicken breast, double-smoked ham, grilled pineapple, Napoletana sauce and fries) and Nashville (southern fried chicken breast, Nashville rub, cabbage slaw, dill cucumber, potato gems and chipotle aioli).
That’s just the tip of the iceberg – you can also snack on Oktoberfest-themed schnitzel, The G&P, the Jagerschnitzel, a classic parma (which this writer thinks should be rightfully called ‘parmi’), a Schweineschnitzel and a mushroom parma (again, an oversight on their behalf). Plant-based folk can even score a vegan schnitzel made from potatoes and mixed veggies – yum! If you simply cannot decide on what schnitty to dig a fork into, you’ll be pleased to hear that there will be a $10 schnitzel blitz every Wednesday with all ten flavours available during the all-day deal.
The Bavarian’s ten-week schnitzel festival will be running across all Queensland locations until Wednesday June 9. To learn more about this tastebud-tingling event, pop over here.
