The 48 Hour Film Project flaunts fast filmmaking
The 48 Hour Film Project challenges Brisbane’s filmmakers to create their best work in a single weekend, from September 13–15.
Creating a film can take years of unrelenting work from a large crew of talented filmmakers and actors – some movies have even spanned multiple decades in their formation. But when international competition The 48 Hour Film Project comes to Brisbane, budding filmmakers will compete to make a winning production in only 48 hours.
As the clock ticks, energetic filmmaking teams will need to write, shoot, edit and add a suitable musical soundtrack, all to impress the judges. The competition kicks off at SLQ’s The Edge at 7:00 pm on Friday September 13 and wraps up on Sunday September 15 at Griffith University’s Film School in South Brisbane. The Judith Wright Centre (JWC) will screen the completed films on October 4–5, giving guests a stimulating glimpse into the fast-working minds of our local talent. Winning films will go up against other winners’ works from around the world and JWC will also host the awards ceremony on Saturday October 12, revealing Brisbane’s fastest, sharpest and fatigued filmmakers.
