TEDxBrisbane performers announced for 2014

Who would have thought that Brisbane would see world-renowned pianist David Helfgott, inspiration for the Academy Award-winning movie Shine, and national living treasure Bob Downe sharing the stage on the same day? This collision of worlds is set to become a reality at TEDxBrisbane 2014 in a day of music set to electrify and inspire. Joining David and Bob will be the incomparable Topology, an internationally recognised new-music quintet, Christopher Tamwoy, who returns to the TEDxBrisbane stage after conquering the Australian festival scene with his prodigious guitar stylings, and the infectiously funny award-winning comedian Mel Buttle. In its national debut, is the Queensland-dreamed Borrowed Verse. This Borrowed Verse performance will be a one-off collaboration between poet Herb Wharton, and front man of Giants of Science and The Gin Club, Ben SalterAnd, still in her teens, Thelma Plum is already a seasoned live performer, selling out shows around Australia.  On the eve of her next national tour, the divine singer/songwriter will bless the TEDxBrisbane audience with an intimate performance.

As usual, this year’s TEDxBrisbane will also feature a stellar line-up of speakersan exciting selection of some of Brisbane and Australia’s leading thinkers, storytellers and performers, all whom will share their thoughts and ideas.
